Things you should know about Catchalotto's Quick Pick function

1 November 2009

lottery lucky dip numbers When you purchase your lottery ticket either via an official National lottery retailer or online, you have an option to select your numbers via Lucky Dip facility, which randomly generates a combination for you.

Similarly, when you join Catchalotto syndicate, you have an option to enter your own combination or ask Lottorino to pick a combination for you via Quick Pick function. Here's what Lottorino does before it gives you your lucky combination:

1. It will check that your combination has not already been played within your syndicate - remember, no more duplications- more unique combinations are played, better the odds become!

2. It will scan syndicate's combinations and work out which numbers have not yet been entered, and will try to use some of those numbers in a combination given to you. That way, a syndicate is able to cover more lotto numbers.

3. It will give you a combination scoring 70% or more. In other words, say by following the above 2 steps, Lottorino chooses 1-2-3-4-5-6. This combination has 2% Lottorino. Lottorino will have another go and try to pick another combination for you scoring 70% or more. Even though the function is called Quick Pick, and you get your numbers generated within seconds, Lottorino is in fact doing a hard and tedious work behind scenes. It can in certain cases go through hundreds of combinations before it finally chooses a combination conforming to all 3 criterias above.

Some people believe that by choosing a combination passively via Lucky Dip facility of National Lottery (e.g. putting minimum effort in the selection process of your lottery combination), you actually get worse odds that those statistically declared. Have you ever played via Lucky Dip and thought what an awful combination you were given? We certainly have. And why is it, you cannot see your Lucky Dip combination before you buy it? Anyone has an answer to it? If so, we'd be interested to hear it! Is it because some people will be put off buying that combination as it just does not look like a winning lottery combination?

By playing via Catchalotto's Quick Pick, you still play lottery with minimum effort with Lottorino doing all the work for you. Computers can do all sorts of things nowadays, so who knows maybe Quick Pick will do it magic and select you your lucky lottery ticket!
