Some win and some win but don't claim

22 March 2010

lottery winner £2mJust four months after divorcing his wife, bus driver Kevin Halstead, from Preston, won £2.3million on the lotto drawn on March 13th this year. In the picture, you see Mr Halstead opened a bottle of champagne with partner Josie Jones, 43, a care worker, in front of a Stagecoach bus with “Congratulations Kevin!” displayed instead of the destination.

He said he planned to continue driving the Preston-Bolton bus, which he has done for the past 17 years - after a few weeks off. “I don't want to cut myself off from my friends and I really enjoy my job,” he said. “Maybe I will go part-time.”

An avid Liverpool football fan, he also hopes to splash out on a season ticket at Anfield and take Miss Jones - who has never been abroad - on a foreign holiday. He insisted he and his ex-wife remain on good terms and hinted he might give her some of his £2,302,668 win.

Little time left to claim £3.6 million

On a slightly different note, someone in the Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch and Strathspey area, has matched all six numbers in the draw on September 23rd last year and still has not come forward. The deadline is 5.30pm today. If you live around this area and tend to purchase your tickets via retailer, hurry, hurry, hurry, check all your pockets, time is ticking. If not claimed, the £3.6million and all the interest it has generated, will go towards lottery grants.

And finally,

Our lottery syndicate Yamagata won £10, not much we know, but nevertheless, thank you johnny_fortuna. You only need to guess 3 other numbers next time to win the jackpot, simples! Here's to good luck!
