Article: "Catchalotto's view on why you should never play 1;2;3;4;5;6 in Lotto"

3 November 2007
A while ago Camelot, the UK National Lottery Official Operator, used to release combinations that were played most commonly. Unsurprisingly, combination 1;2;3;4;5;6 was one of them in that it was entered into each Lotto Draw by many people. And by many we mean thousands!!! If we recall correctly, at some stage there were about 10,000 tickets purchased for each Lotto draw containing this combination. This brings to the reason number 1 why such combination should be avoided like the plague.

REASON NUMBER 1:

There are so many tickets being bought containing combination 1;2;3;4;5;6, the jackpot payout would be very low indeed should this combination win!

Halloween produces no winner, so it's triple Lotto Rollover!!!

31 October 2007
This Saturday's (3rd Nov 07) estimated rollover is £18,000,000! It is worth noting that if there is no jackpot winner, it will not roll over again. The jackpot will be shared amongst 5+bonus ball winners!!! So put your thinking hats on and direct all your positive thinking into the syndicate Trianguli Australis. All the best, everyone.

Today's lotto syndicate contains the best combination played so far!!!

27 October 2007
Syndicate Gruis managed to get 4 number prize, and what's more the bonus ball was guessed correctly too! The probability of guessing 4 numbers and a bonus correctly is approx. 1 in 22,000! That is you are expected to have one such combination in every 22,000 tickets. Well done to the winning syndicate, we hope the performance will only improve! Next draw is rollover, all the best everyone!

Lottorino of 3% due to division by 9 rule

11 October 2007
Last night's combination 1;9;24;27;36;45 is assigned 3% by Lottorino as it has 4 numbers divisible by 9. Rare occurence in the past draws!

Ticket patterns result in low jackpot payout

26 September 2007
Today's combination 2;8;16;24;32;41 had 10 jackpot winners, each getting £252k. Lottorino degraded this combination to 34% as the spread of 8 has been deterred between 3 pairs!!!

Yet another win despite Lottorino of 61%

20 September 2007
Yesterday's lotto combination 2;5;6;13;25;47 was degraded to 61% by Lottorino Scoring Engine due to it having a low sum of 98 and consisting of 4 prime numbers.

Congratulations to Syndicate Bootes

8 September 2007
The syndicate won 4 number prize (£74) which equated to £5.69 per combination. Catchalotto is on a roll!

Difference between ball 4 and ball 5 takes Lottorino into red

12 July 2007
Yesterday's combination 3;9;10;12;46;47 was assigned 8% by Lottorino as the difference of 34 between ball 4 and ball 5 was the highest ever. Never in the UK National Lottery did the difference between these two balls equalled or exceeded 34. As a result, Lottorino degraded this combination to 8%.

Article: "Catchalottolize to win the UK National Lottery first prize"

30 June 2007

It's amazing how many people play the UK National Lottery without realising their odds of winning. And when some do find out (odds are 1 in 13,983,816), they do not really comprehend how incredibly miniscule the odds of winning are. It's better to relate those odds to some real-life situations. For instance, if you were told that the chances of having a SUCCESSFUL forthcoming surgery is 0.000072% (not even 1%!!!), would you go ahead with it? Probably not. So why play the lottery if your chances of winning are 0.0000072%?!

How about going to the bookies and asking to place a bet on a horse with odds of 1 to 13,983,816?! We did and we don't think the bookieRead more

Your chances of guessing 4 numbers right...

6 June 2007
...are a miniscule 0.1% (not even 1%!) or 1 in 1032. Put differently, you should expect to guess 4 numbers right in just 1 lotto combination out of 1032 combinations played. That is, of course, if you do not use Lottorino which helps improve the odds. This is definitely the case today - see the syndicate Microscopium. Please refer to Lottorino Explained section for further information how Lottorino works.

What are the chances of guessing 2 numbers correclty?

30 May 2007
Every lottery player has 13.24% chances of guessing 2 numbers correctly or 1 in 7.6. In other words, you should expect to guess 2 numbers correctly in 1 combination for each 7 tickets you buy. The syndicate Cygnus had 6 combinations entered, and 3 of them guessed 2 numbers correctly (statistically you should have bought 21 tickets to get such odds!!!) This just goes to show that Lottorino does improve the odds.

High Lottorino scores for the past 3 draws!

26 May 2007
Lottorino scores of the past 3 draws equated to around 94% meaning that these combinations appeared to be truly random. To improve syndicate's chances of winning, Catchalotto advises its members to play any combination scoring 50% or higher, i.e. filtering out combinations that are commonly played and/or appear to have some bias.

It's a rollover of Lottorino's lowest score

16 May 2007
Combination 9;20;22;24;27;28 was assigned 3% by Lottorino. Did you know this was the first time that a combination consisting of 5 numbers between 20 and 29 (inclusive) was drawn in the UK National Lottery? Would you bet on a horse that never won, even once? Lottorino prefers not to, and hence the reason why this combination was given such a low Lottorino score.

Ball difference takes Lottorino into red

12 May 2007
Lottorino assigned 3% to a winning combination 3,6,9,12,40,43 primarily due to the ball difference equating to 3 too many times (between 3 and 6; 6 and 9; 9 and 12; 40 and 43). Overall, 6 people shared the jackpot (winning only £700k each) and 22 people shared the second prize (winning only £57k each). It just goes to show that quite a lot of people play combinations that are biased (i.e. not entirely random) resulting in the jackpot being split into many parts.

What are the chances?

28 April 2007
Did you know that you have 41.3% chances of guessing only 1 number right (put differently chances are 1 in 2.4). Therefore, if you have 5 Lotto tickets, you should expect to get 1 number right in only 2 combinations. The syndicate Telescopium had 5 combinations and each one matched 1 number. Catchalotto does improve the odds! Let's hope that soon enough we'll trap the winning combination!
